1. Who We Are
Fractured Ground ("we," "us," or "the publisher") is the publisher of the Disaster Awareness Kit, a digital information product distributed as a PDF. These Terms govern your purchase and use of the Kit, your access to our website at fracturedground.com (and any subdomains), and your interactions with the Fractured Ground YouTube channel and its associated content.
2. What You Are Buying
The Disaster Awareness Kit is a digital book delivered as a PDF file. When you complete checkout, you receive a license to download, read, print for personal use, and reference the file. The license is for your personal use only. You may print one personal copy and store digital backups for yourself.
What you may not do
- Resell, redistribute, or share the file with people who did not purchase it
- Upload the file to public file-sharing sites, torrent networks, or paid content libraries
- Strip out the original copyright notices, attributions, or watermarks
- Use the contents to create a competing product that substantially reproduces our material
- Translate, adapt, or republish the contents commercially without written permission
3. Information Disclaimer
The Kit is an information product. It compiles publicly available federal guidance from agencies including the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the American Red Cross. It is intended to help you organize and apply that guidance at the household level.
The Kit is not professional emergency preparedness consultation, not medical advice, not legal advice, not engineering advice, and not insurance advice. We are not licensed in any of these professions and do not represent ourselves as such. For decisions that materially affect your safety, finances, or legal position, consult a qualified professional and contact your local emergency management agency for region-specific protocols.
4. Accuracy
We make every reasonable effort to ensure the information in the Kit is accurate as of the publication date. However, federal hazard data updates continuously, regulatory frameworks change, and regional conditions vary. The Kit is updated annually; in between editions, primary sources should be consulted directly through the links provided in the Resources chapter.
5. Pricing and Payment
Prices are displayed in US dollars and are subject to change. Promotional or launch pricing applies only during the period it is publicly advertised. Once you complete checkout at a given price, that price is locked in for your purchase. Payment processing is handled by our third-party payment processor (currently Gumroad). We do not store your full payment card information.
6. Refunds

7. Intellectual Property
All written content, illustrations, layout, and design within the Kit are the intellectual property of Fractured Ground except where federal agency materials and other public-domain references are cited. United States federal government publications are public domain and freely usable; our editorial selection, organization, and original writing are not.
8. The YouTube Channel
Use of the Fractured Ground YouTube channel is governed by YouTube's own Terms of Service. We make no claim of ownership over the YouTube platform itself. All video scripts, documentary content, and channel branding are our intellectual property.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your purchase or use of the Kit is limited to the amount you paid for it. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of property, lost profits, lost data, or personal injury arising from action or inaction taken in reliance on the Kit's content. Personal preparedness decisions are your responsibility.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the website or the Kit after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be noted prominently when made.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and, where applicable, the state in which Fractured Ground is established. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be resolved first by good-faith communication; if unresolved, by binding arbitration in accordance with applicable consumer protection law.
